Scripture Lesson:Ezekiel 37:1-14
Preacher: Kenneth Reschke
Description: Thursday – Ezekiel 37:1-14 Jerusalem lay in ruins. Israel was in exile and as good as dead. They were carried off from their homeland, cut off and helpless. The once powerful nation of Israel was smashed and broken, like the valley of dry bones in Ezekiel 37. But God promises to bring this broken and destitute nation back to life. God does this as a foreshadowing of Christ’s greatest work–the resurrection of God’s people from the dead. Here, in Ezekiel 37, God is speaking to a figuratively dead nation. But one day he will speak it literally: “I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them.” On the last day, God will put his Spirit in us, and give life to the lifeless.
