Scripture Lesson:John 17:11b-19
Preacher: B. Balge
Description: Reading: John 17:11b-19 Just mere hours away from his passion, Jesus could have had any number of things on his mind. Yet as the evangelist John shows, Jesus’ concern was with his disciples. He had kept them safe under his care and instruction for 3 years. Yet that time was coming to an end. In this portion of the high priestly prayer, Jesus now commends his disciples to the care of their, and our, gracious Father in heaven. As the members of the Seminary family prepare to depart as well, whether for just a summer or for a year or for the last time, this truth that strengthened the apostles strengthens us, Jesus’ modern disciples as well. Speaker: B. Balge Hymns: CW21 – 538 “Jesus, My Great High Priest” CW 346 – “In You Is Gladness” Prayer/Day: Almighty God, your Son our Savior was taken up in glory and intercedes for us at your right hand. Through your living and abiding Word, give us hearts to know him and faith to follow where he has gone; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
