Scripture Lesson:2 Corinthians 2:12-3:6
Preacher: J. Jordan
Description: Reading: 2 Corinthians 2:12-3:6 The Roman generals and emperors came back from wars and led triumphal processions through the streets of Rome with treasures of every kind: captured slaves, foreign rulers, exotic animals, gold and silver, all on display. Imagine the great confidence both the soldiers and the people felt as the army marched through the streets victorious. The apostles together with all those who faithfully proclaim the gospel might look as though they are among the defeated who fought a losing battle. They suffer so many problems, setbacks, and trials. But look closer! Here they are the ones who, with the gospel, lead a triumphal procession through history. They are the treasures won in battle. As men studying for the pastoral ministry, we follow in this victorious procession. We must daily ask: “Who is equal to such a task?” Without God's grace we certainly are not! But our competence comes from God. Having been equipped with the message of the resurrection, we are confident that we cannot fail. Jesus’ resurrection brings us confidence. We have peace with God. Salvation is ours. God will give us strength in every situation. Speaker: J. Jordan
