Scripture Lesson:Luke 24:36-49
Preacher: Prof. Christie
Description: Reading: Luke 24:36-49 The disciples were behind locked doors. They were weak in their faith in the promises of Christ. But Jesus appears and shows his disciples that there is no reason for them to be afraid. He appears in flesh as their risen Lord. He has risen just as he said, just as the prophecies foretold. Jesus turned their fear into confidence as the disciples saw Jesus had fulfilled his mission. Jesus gave his disciples great power to be witnesses of what they had seen and heard. He sent them out as his witnesses. Though we have not seen the risen Lord with our eyes, we hear him speak in his Word and we know him by faith. We believe that he has called us to be his witnesses. As we share the message of our risen Lord, we stand firmly on his promises. Our faith grasps the good news: Jesus is risen! Jesus' death has brought peace between God and humankind! As Christ rose, we, too, will live! Just as the disciples were witnesses of our risen Lord, we, too, share what we have seen and heard with the world.
