Scripture Lesson:Mark 1:21-28
Preacher: Prof. Wendland
Description: Reading: Mark 1:21-28 Jesus was just beginning to reveal himself to the world through his teaching. He taught with authority. The devil could not stand this and so he possessed a man in the synagogue to try to discredit and destroy Jesus’ authority. But Jesus silenced him and drove him out with authority – an authority prophesied by Moses when he said that God would put his word in the Prophet’s mouth. The people were amazed. Yes, amazed at the exorcism, but what is the first thing they say to answer the question who is this? He teaches with authority. He is the one they were looking for! Jesus is still rules over all things with authority and has seen to it that this authoritative message is still driving the devil out of hearts in the gospel. Strengthen us in body and mind, and bring us safely through all temptations; through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
