Dear Brothers,

What amazing words we heard this Sunday spoken to a corpse!  “Young man, I say to you, get up!” Such were the words our Lord spoke with compassion to the dead son of a doubly-bereaved widow.

Unless we live until Jesus’ return, every one of us will hear similar mighty words effectively calling us from our graves on the Last Day. His power and compassion will not fail any of us who die in faith in him since Jesus let death’s uncleanness enshroud him in our place!

You and all whom you serve have already received a powerful glimpse of that in the spiritual death and resurrection of your baptism!

God’s blessings this summer as you continue to herald the alone saving gospel of our powerful and compassionate Lord whose saving love gives life and growth of every kind to his Church!
