Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary prepares pastors for the worldwide mission of WELS. All training is carried out in the light of the gospel under the full authority of the Holy Scriptures as the inspired and inerrant Word of God. All teaching is carried out in conscious harmony with the Lutheran Confessions as the correct understanding of the Bible’s message. The courses are designed to fit into the four theological disciplines:
- Biblical Theology. We study the Bible in its original languages.
- Practical Theology. In these courses, students learn how to preach, lead worship, teach catechism and Bible classes, visit sick people, and make evangelism calls, and equip God’s people for service.
- Historical Theology. This is the history of the Christian Church from Jesus’ time until today. We also learn about errors so we can avoid them in the future.
- Systematic Theology. We study all the doctrines of the Bible in an orderly way. This is also known as dogmatics.
Our graduates are awarded a master of divinity (M.Div.) degree. Our M.Div. degree program is approved for U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs benefits.
