Interested in the STM Degree?

The MDiv program of Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary (WLS) is accredited through the Association of Theological Schools (ATS). The STM degree program of WLS is also accredited through ATS.

Every two years about 600 pastors take at least one STM course. Of those 600, about one-third of them will take a course for credit (completing post-course assignments and receiving a grade). Of those 200, about 40 of them are enrolled in the STM program. Each one has an STM advisor and a tentative date of completion.

At WLS graduation in May of 2025, nine pastors will be awarded an STM degree.

What leads pastors to pursue the STM degree? Very simply, they want to grow spiritually and professionally, and this program provides a way for them to do that.

The degree can be earned in four to six years, if the pastor is able to take several courses every year. Most pastors complete the program in seven to twelve years.

Pastors interested in pursuing the degree are encouraged to reach out to the Grow in Grace office for more information: growingrace@wls.edu.
