The very accessible Hebrew of this section belies its theological depth and importance. The course will emphasize quantity reading in Hebrew, with attention to narrative analysis and to issues raised in the history of interpretation and in critical scholarship. Special attention to the section as a sedes doctrinae for Scripture’s doctrine of hardening, and as a demonstration of God’s saving love for his covenant people.
