“In this world you will have trouble.” The pastor lives and ministers in a world of death, mourning, crying, and pain. He tends to souls engaged in the ongoing battle with the flesh, brittle from the bruising troubles of this life, and under a heavy barrage of the devil’s attacks. “But take heart! I have overcome the world.” The pastor also lives and ministers with the Savior’s message of victory, peace, and life. He counsels troubled souls and cares for hurting hearts with the Word of Truth. This course will examine the emphases and strengths of Lutheran pastoral counseling. It will apply Scripture with clarity and compassion to pressing troubles in the flock and put pastoral counseling skills into practice.
