Biblical Hebrew as Communication
Instructor: Kenneth Cherney
Description:
Ever feel like, every time you open to a text in Hebrew, you’re starting all over again? Is there really no better way than to look up every word and analyze every form, and then try to string together what you’ve got into something that makes sense (sort of)? Does anybody get to the point where they can read this language as if it were—well, a language?
Yes, they do. You can, too.
Your Creator designed your brain to be a language-learning machine, and Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) works at giving your brain the input it needs to do what it does best (Hint: that’s not lists and charts). Using all four language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing), we take an enjoyable, step-by-step approach that will have you reading and discussing simple text in Hebrew by the end of the course. You will not become fluent in a week—but what you do learn, you will not forget. And you will never look at a biblical Hebrew text the same way again.
During Winterim 2024 this course will run:
January 8-12 from 7:30-9:15 am and 10:45 am - 12:30 pm
January 15-19 from 7:30-9:15 am and 10:45 am - 12:30 pm.
