Getting Ready for the 2025 Retreats:

Are you getting excited for your upcoming retreat? We are! And we’re very thankful for the number of registrations for each group.

Here are some tips as you get ready for the retreat:

  • Who’s all coming? We’re glad you asked! You can make use of our Facebook group dedicated to the retreat to check out the list of who will be in San Antonio from all groups. Another useful document is the ride share Google doc, to share rides to/from the airport.
  • What is the agenda? Check out the retreat agendas!
  • What’s the expected retreat attire? Remember: this is a retreat. A relaxing change of location, schedule, and pace includes a relaxing change in wardrobe! Feel free to dress business casual for all retreat sessions, including the opening and closing worship services. Comfortable walking shoes/sandals are wise if your plans call for strolling the Riverwalk. While the heart of downtown San Antonio is within just a few blocks of our hotel, you may still end up walking quite a bit by the time an evening excursion is over.
  • What will the weather be like? Let’s just say it will be warmer than where most (but not all!) of us live. A glance at the current forecast for San Antonio shows daytime temperatures in the 70s and 80s. However, in San Antonio’s semi-arid climate, the evenings will be cooler (50s and 60s). Having a light jacket available when doing evening strolling along the Riverwalk will keep you comfortable.
  • What about meals? The hotel provides a generous selection of complementary hot and cold items for breakfast. You will be on your own for meals to sample the wide variety of restaurants in the area. Just about any type of food your heart desires can be found along the Riverwalk. Lack of variety will not be an obstacle!
  • What’s the “Kick Back” in the evening at the Drury? Each evening the Drury hosts their Kick Back. It runs from 5:30–7:00 PM and offers very generous complementary hot and cold appetizers. They also offer complementary adult beverages (wine, and a choice of several mixed drinks). All you will need to have with you is the card the Drury gives you at check-in. There are also unlimited soft drinks available at the Kick Back. Some have used the Kick Back for their appetizers before their evening meal. Others have chosen to make this their meal, perhaps pursuing a dessert or evening snack later on the Riverwalk.
  • What if I/we can no longer travel because of illness? For those of you who are unable to travel to San Antonio due to illness, you will be provided a full refund of your registration, so long as you notify Grow in Grace (growingrace@wls.edu) prior to April 23rd. Please remember to call and cancel your own hotel and airline reservation.

We are looking forward to welcoming you to San Antonio this month! Please let us know if there is any way we can assist as you get ready for the retreat. As always, we are available via e-mail to answer any questions (kimberly.workentine@wls.edu).
