“On the road again. I just can’t wait to be on the road again.”

Perhaps you sang the words as you read them. Our PSI Team is often on the road—domestically and internationally. Currently, my dear colleagues Allen Sorum and Jon Bare are both on the road, while I am in Mequon, “holding down the fort.”

My schedule as World Missions Seminary Professor has me teaching “at home” (Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary) during the first semester, and around the world during the second semester and the summer. This schedule gives me opportunity to bring world missions to our seminary and to bring our seminary to world missions.

“On the road again. I just can’t wait to be on the road again.” While I am looking forward to teaching overseas beginning in January, I am actually on the road during this semester too. I am traveling with our second-year students (Middlers) from Egypt to the Sinai Peninsula, through the desert to Canaan, later to Babylon, and then back to the land of Israel. On our travels, we will see amazing structures: the Tabernacle, Solomon’s Temple, and the Second Temple. More importantly, during our travels we will meet the LORD, the God of Israel. We will see how graciously he treats his people, always with an eye toward the Savior whom he promised to send. We will see that his glory is in his goodness, that his grace is greater than all the wickedness in the world. On our travels, we will see that the God of Jacob is the Lord of the nations, the Lord of history, and the God of heaven.

I give thanks to God for my travel itinerary this semester: Exodus through Esther. Please pray that the LORD blesses these travels for the Middlers and for me. For we have many places to go and many people to tell!
